Trip to Texel cancelled (Kilala.nl (Cailin Coilleach)) by Cailin Coilleach

I've had to cancel my attendance at the annual company outing.

For starters Marli wouldn't be coming along, given her work schedule next week. To accomodate for this I would've had to do groceries on Friday and rushed to Texel on Saturday morning. It would've also meant that I'd spend at least three to four hours of my weekend in the car driving back and forth.

Now, all of that wouldn't normally deter me from a road trip. My huge pile of homework however, would. ;_; This is one time that I'd have to let efficiency take the upper hand over fun. Ah, but in three weeks the school year will be over and I'll have a little less to worry about! /o/

EDIT:
I hope my colleagues have a lot of fun though. What with today's weather, it must be lovely on the islands this weekend. I also got to miss Mona's last day at Snow, which sucks. :( Good luck with your new job Monay! o/

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow… (a salmon of doubt (shade1978)) by David

So, we got a monster snowstorm here in Ohio this weekend. Columbus was hit hardest with just over 20 inches of snow, but we got dumped on here in Akron as well with 15” reported at the local airport.

My roommate has a snow blower so we didn’t have to break our backs shoveling out a ridiculously long driveway. Best. Invention. Ever.

Anyway, have some photos:

Crazy stuff, but we do seem to get most of our heaviest snows later in the winter. At any rate, we’ve had a proper snowstorm so now I’m definitely ready for spring. :)

I am better today (Punkadyne Labs (Punkwalrus))

My stomach isn't all messed up, I guess. I don't want to be TMI, so I won't. I'm a little weak. Hell, I am a LOT weak. I have spent most of the last 3 days in bed.

I heard it snowed. Posted in: sick , snow

The Snow monthly gathering (Kilala.nl (Cailin Coilleach)) by Cailin Coilleach

I can't get over how quickly Snow's grown the last two years! When I joined them in June of 2004 I think I was something like the 45th consultant, with 15 more folks in the "overhead" (sales force, operations, hr, etc). In two years' time we've attracted forty new employees, with the hundredth n00b signing on this week. Imagine that!

The downside to growing this large is that our office building really isn't suited for us anymore: the meeting room has grown rather small and oxygen quickly runs out during our monthly meetings. Good thing that we're looking for new accommodations! Apparently they're either looking to rent an existing building, or even to build a completely new one. The deadline for the move is guestimated at Oct 2008. Shiny!

My presentation didn't go too well, since I hadn't prepared at all. I'd made the slides alright, but I'd never gone through all the things I wanted to say. I bet I came off as very nervous :) I'm very happy though that at least three additional guys indicated that they'd be interested in joining the group travelling to Assembly.

Studying for my LPIC-102 went rather oddly. The past few nights my head's felt like it was completely full and like it was unable to take up anymore information. I'm afraid that it rather affected my mood last night, making me all grouchy and bitchy.

@Marli: I'm sorry honey, that you had to endure that... again...

So... I'm off to the exam! Wish me luck!

Assembly 2007 promo campaign (Kilala.nl (Cailin Coilleach)) by Cailin Coilleach

The logo I conjured up for Snow's presence at ASM07.
Since I've gotten the Go Ahead from management I am now making preparations for Snow's presence at Assembly 07 (summer edition).

First off I'll need to get people excited about going, which requires a small promo campaign inside the company. Luckily I've already got three people on my side and the monthly get-together is planned in about a week. Perfect timing! I'm putting together a small presentation that I can run as part of the evening's schedule that'll tell my colleagues about Assembly, what it is, what we're going to do, what it'll cost them, etc.

Because I want the presentation to be as successful as possible I will not settle for a boring, black-and-white presentation. No, I'm making something that fits the colour scheme of ASM07 and that includes a snazzy logo (one that goes well with my previous mission badges).

I'm really looking forward to both giving the presentation, organising the trip and then actually going to Finland for a week ^_^

Yay! A little snow, finally! (Kilala.nl (Cailin Coilleach)) by Cailin Coilleach

Our cat, perplexed by the falling snow
It's been a while since Blackie had last seen snow. Last year I believe she thought it to be intriguing, but not much more. This year she actually seemed stumped by the white flurry, wiggling outside her windows. She even got up on her hind legs to tap against the glass, trying to catch a few flakes :3 She's never done that before! She's given up though, returning to her huge beanbag in front of the gas fire.

I'm just glad that I got to see a little snow before winter is over! I was -so- jealous of my family in Finland getting their usual fluffy whiteness, leaving me out in the cold. I'll have to go outside for a bit later on to play in the snow ^_^

Speaking of snow: I found it fitting to watch the Tiny snow fairy Sugar special episodes today, after finally watching the last two DVDs of the series this week. Now, at long last, I've finished watching an anime that I started following in 2000! I have to say it was worth the wait :) The ending to the story was good and actually had an unexpected turn of events for me. I'm so glad I decided to buy those 20 Geneon/Pioneer DVDs at a discount... Posted in: anime , cat , snow , tiny snow fairy sugar
