oh look, i have a blog. (multifarious miscellany (kitters)) by ami

blog
I’ve gotten bad with the blogging, I know. That’s why I’ve turned on Twitter Tools… at least I can keep people entertained with micro-blogging. Maybe.

family life
We’ve been trying to enjoy the last of summer vacation before it completely dwindles away and we’re caught up in the maelstrom known as “keeping up with a teenager in school”. The basic school supplies have been purchased, new clothes are hanging in her closet (probably strewn about the floor, if we’re going for accuracy here), class schedule has been procured, and we’ve determined where her bus stop is. I’m ready… can’t exactly say she shares that sentiment :P

dogs
Haven’t mentioned the Inus in a while. Brando has really opened up recently in terms of his personality. Even though he’s impressively high energy for his age, he’s also a big snugglebug who loves to curl up next to any available human on the couch. Dakota’s happy to have a buddy to romp around with, and the two of them do everything together. It’ll be rough for Dakota when Brando gets adopted, but I think he’ll also be happy to be the center of attention again, too. Brando is available for adoption through NYC Shiba Rescue.

more blog
I think I’ll be putting an end to having a separate craft blog and just write those entries on this blog. Ever since I joined Ravelry, I haven’t really been consistent with updating anyway. So… expect to see some occasional yarn-related, uh, yarns around here. I know. Bad pun. I’m horribly sorry.

Testing WordPress (Stonetable) by Adam

I’m experimenting with Wordpress 2.5 and cross-posting to LiveJournal.

It appears that Wordpress 2.5 and the LiveJournal cross-poster are much improved since the last time I tested them. I’m going to knock around with this for a day and see how it fits.

I’ve ripped out the relevant portions of the LJ theme that I like and applied it to the theme here. I’ll try to keep my tests to this one post so I don’t mess up anyone’s feed.

Update:

Fairly happy with the changes so far. There are things I need to do, blanks that need to be filled, but everything critical is done.

Issues:

  • The LiveJournal cross-poster doesn’t seem to copy my tags over correctly
  • There doesn’t seem to be a way of changing the order of widgets in the sidebar. Drag and drop is broken in Wordpress 2.5.1

yay for spring! (multifarious miscellany (kitters)) by ami

I’m commemorating the start of spring with a new blog template. Something a little less dark, a little more spring-y. Oh, who am I kidding… I just got bored with the old one, as always.

To be honest, spring doesn’t really do much for me - especially since I’ve apparently developed allergies as I’ve gotten older. Besides, we all know that we won’t really have a spring season. It’ll just be cold until the one day we wake up and it’s 80 degrees. Then summer will be here and over, and before you know it, it’s Christmas.

I know, I know - take the time to smell the roses. I would… but I’m allergic to ‘em. :P

I upgraded to Wordpress 2.3.1 this morning, and I’m still tweaking a little… hopefully nothing is too terribly broken :)

dare i attempt it? (multifarious miscellany (kitters)) by ami

It’s November. That means, among other things, that it’s the start of NaBloPoMo - National Blog Posting Month. The main idea is to post every single day during the month of November. I’ve been more than lax when it comes to blog posting, and I don’t know that I’ll seriously commit to NaBloPoMo, but I can at least attempt to be a little more consistent :P

Experimentation in process (Stonetable) by Adam

I’m experimenting with using LiveJournal to run my blog. I’ve got my reasons, which I’ll expound upon some other time. I’ll be using it while I am in Kansas at the CSSF Workshop. I may continue using it after I return.

I’ll be leaving Sunday morning for Kansas. Further updates will be posted here.

a host of things. (multifarious miscellany (kitters)) by ami

First of all, I’ve changed my screenames for every IM platform except ICQ. If you’d like the new one, either comment here or email me, and you just might receive it (if you haven’t already).

Secondly, I got bored and created a Windows Live Space. I actually did it to keep a secondary backup of both my blogs. If you’re one of those people that reads both my blogs, you can just defer to that one if you’d like.

Third, I reinforced my dislike of heights in an open space. I can handle being in skyscrapers and airplanes and enclosed places like that. Roller coasters are iffy - I need to warm up to them. But sitting on a rooftop while cleaning out gutters? Nope. Don’t like it. And why was I doing this? I really don’t know. We went over to my parents’ house so Mike could put new gutters up in the front of their house, and I noticed that their gutters were jampacked with leaves. Now, there are two roofs (rooves?) in question here. One is about 8 feet off the ground, the porch roof, and the other is 18ish feet, the main roof. So I’m standing in the driveway, looking up at the porch roof, and I’ve got it in my head that it’s no big deal and I can handle that. Yeah. That’s why I had that whole “cat stuck in a tree” look when my dad pulled in the driveway. No more rooftop escapades for me.

Fourth, laser pointer + dog = great fun.

On A Lack Of Updates (The Dave Today (Albino Eatpod)) by Dave Starling

It is pretty obvious that my site has been a little neglected lately, but hopefully that will change. I have got many more topics about which I can write, and hopefully a few mini-reviews of some hardware I've picked up in the last few months (including the Dell 2405, the M-Audio Projectmix I/O, and the Zakk Wylde Les Paul Custom Camo).

I've also invested in a new camera, so fingers crossed there will be some interesting shots to post soon.
