well, at least our daughter has learnt to be on time for an appointment. We were scheduled for a c-section around 0700, but at 0150 Marli's water broke. So here we are, at the hospital, feeling anxious but OK.

A colleague of mine at $CLIENT just returned from the US, after visiting some relatives in Miami. He brought us all a big bunch of candy, which's gonna be the death of us ^_^
Among all of this were the
Reese's peanut butter cups, which he recommended me as being "highly addictive". Well crap he wasn't lying! o_O

Well, this is creeping me out... Kinda...
I have my Powermac booted in
Firewire Target Disk Mode, meaning that it acts as if it were a dumb firewire disk. I've done this to copy over a few gigs of photos from my Macbook, since doing that over Wifi will take ages.
Well, the fans on my Powermac started out at a low hum, but over the course of two to three minutes their pace has been steadily rising. It's kind of creepy to hear their pitch go up for more than a minute. It makes me wonder how far they can go before breaking ^_^;
So now there's a -very- noisy hairdryer sitting beneath my desk, while I'm waiting for the copy to finish. I'm still waiting for a *SNAP!*, followed by an awful racket from one of the broken fans bouncing around the case. >_>

Last night, as I was trying to fall asleep, something suddenly dawned on me. I was feeling anxiety, or even fear about making my career switch!
This is the first time in years that I've felt anxious about an undertaking, because I might actually not be able to do it. I know that I love maths and I know that love teaching people. But there's no guarantee for me that I will actually succeed at my college degree.
And you know what?
It feels great!
It's been years since I didn't feel like I could easily tackle a task! Or knowing that I could at least wing it. Nope, this is for real! I love it :3

being awoken by some weird weather and loud thunder I thought I'd surf the web just a little. Just to wear myself out so I can go back to sleep.
Well, that didn't work :D Because I found
an article (in dutch) on the upcoming game
Rock Band over at Erik's games.blog.nl. His article also contains a YouTube clip of the game in action. Man, that looks so totally, fscking sweet!
Mind you, I have no illusions whatsoever that games like
Rock Band or
Guitar Hero come close to the real thing, ie "playing in a band". Of course not... But
having experienced the genius that is Guitar Hero I know that
Rock Band will... well... ROCK! <3

EDIT:
To explain, for those unfamiliar with the game, on-screen you see four
frets that represent the four "instruments" in the game. From left to right there's the lead guitar, the drums and the bass. Up on top are the vocals. The object of the game is for each player to follow the patterns that appear on the frets, using the buttons on his instrument. Or in the case of the drummer, to strike the pad in question. Or in case of the singer, to hit the appropriate note. You score points by getting the timing right. The longer you make it without mistakes, the more points you score.
