BROOKLYN!!!! (eccentric squares (Kuya)) by noel
even though i lived in the city for 4 years, i never really explored brooklyn.

the only times i found myself in brooklyn were when i was living at 200 water street (view from my window above) and i had fallen asleep on the downtown A at 4 in the morning. i would wake up in brooklyn, dazed and confused, take the A back to manhattan, oversleep my stop, and repeat ad infinitum. one night, i think i made 3 full round trips into brooklyn while oversleeping my stops.

with the lack of good pizza on the left coast, i've found myself hitting up some famous BK pizzerias. so far i've hit up grimaldis under the bridge and drigg's in williamsburg. i'll post up my reviews after lucali's and one more round at umberto's, but in the meantime, i figured i'd post up some pics from annie and my inadvertent explorations of brooklyn

the walk across the brooklyn bridge is actually pretty short. i do tend to walk faster than most olympic runners and small propeller driven aircraft, but it didn't seem like more than a 10 minute walk across.

while on the brooklyn bridge, you can see the east river, the statue of liberty, downtown manhattan, midtown, and the manhattan bridge. it can get a little cold, but it's best to go at night. less traffic and the nyc skyline at night is unparalleled.
also pretty cool in the bridge area is the river cafe. there's a $25 per head minimum, but it's a chill place for dessert after the pizza at grimaldi's and it's got a great view.
