Years ago during my first internship in IT I was introduced to funny websites as
Computer stupidities and
Tech tales. Both are filled with horror stories from the IT helpdesk and Tths time I contributed a few :)
Today I discovered a similar website with stories from retail and customer services. I promptly wasted four hours reading this stuff, some of which is quite scary. Really, the level of egocentrism or closed-mindednesz in some people! *shudder* If you're bored, go see

Maybe it’s because I’ve seen way too much TV Japan, but Gorgeous Tiny Chicken Machine Show is the funniest shit I’ve seen in a long time. I don’t know what to say, it hit’s the absurd delightfulness of the most insane kawaii otakus wet dream and goes past that. Thanks to Wil for spreading the word.

So the other night T had a late gig and as per usual with these he calls me at 12:30 to say he's coming home. Well I fell asleep at some point, only to be woken up by him standing in front of me. Whee! I told him I was happy to see him and was expecting my next contact to be when he called and told me he was leaving and then I'd have to wait. But then he said "I DID call you, but I couldn't get through."
Huh. Stupid V0nage.
Did not think much of this. T said maybe they shut off our service for not paying the bill because our credit card likes to refuse perfectly legitimate charges, lock down the card, and then call us to ask if it's okay. Meanwhile screwing up oh so many subscription/auto payments. Why would they shut it off so soon though? Whatever, right?
We fell asleep and at 2:30am the phone rang. Ahh, service after all! I reached backwards awkwardly and took the phone out of the hook and saw the caller ID was his cell. Shut the ringer off, put it back. Did this like, four times. Then I wised up and just put the phone down on my pillow so I wouldn't have to contort myself. I guess this is some sort of V0nage weirdness where all the calls are finally coming through.
The phone rang again. T woke up with a START and freaked out, saw the phone there, picks it up, looks at it, (presumably) sees that it's his own cell phone...
... and answers it!
What does he expect? Does he expect himself to answer it on the other end? Was Past T calling to talk to Future T? If so, what did he have to say?
I asked him why he answered the phone and he said he doesn't know. I forgot to ask if he even remembers this whole incident.

Hugh of gapingvoid has posted some "Random Blogging Notes". At first glance, it looks like a typical "How to get more traffic/become rich/etc." After actually reading it, you'll quickly learn it's typical Hugh MacLeod "f**k you and the world you live in" style (which I enjoy thoroughly), and so by definition doesn't sugarcoat any of the realities both A- and Z-listers face. Some of my favorites:

College Saga YouTube videos made by a fellow called Mark Leung and his friends. Together they've made a parody of the
Final Fantasy series of RPG games. It's is painfully obvious that these guys and their classmates have waaaaay to much time on their hands, since they've taken the time to make little under an hour worth of video.
Still doesn't make the videos any less funny! I love this quote from one of the NPCs:

It's really not optimal, but he's very warm, and it's like 60 in here today. Well I sneezed, and I just totally sneezed all over his fur, sorry.
